This image lost a lot in the upload process... but thanks. Much of the sharpness and snap in the color tones is gone.

Anway, to answer your question... this guy was rambling alone in Yellowstone... while "friendly" he certainly wasn't tame. I setup and let him walk toward me... I bet I was about 30-50 yards away... no further... it was taken handheld.. no tripod.. thanks to IS... :-)

So far.. I'm loving my 10D... but I'm ready to upgrade... right now the 20D makes a lot of sense for me.. so perhaps I'll have two bodies in my bag before too long.

I don't disagree with your comment... unfortunately... if you check out the original... you'll see that was not an option... :-)

JT:

A real nice capture on this, and I'd bet not easy either. How far away from the coyote were you?
Nice job. How ya liking your 10D?

Best regards
David

JT, good shot, coulda had a little wider crop to show more of the drum though, IMHO.

Thanks for the comment. This image was captured in one of those wonderful times when the model was relaxing and happened to walk into the light. I happened to see the light hit his face... and said.... "Dude, hold it... look down just a bit" .... and bam... captured.

Sometimes the best images come from that type of coincidence.

Thanks for the comment. Actually, I had that thought when working on this image... but admittedly didn't try it. I thought the larger stones throw off the balance in the picture and actually help me capture what my intent is/was. I'll take a look at cropping differently to see if I like it.

i like this. i think a crop to take away the larger stones and concentrate on the smaller stones would be more effective (although i'm a fan of abstracts and i'm thinking more on abstract terms).

George, thanks for the compliment. I could post on one of my other business oriented sites to provide a more accurate representation of the image. But, in general I try to only post work that converts well to web based viewing. Unfortunately, landscapes such as these are meant to be enjoyed in their natural format (aka no jpeg conversion) or on paper.

Très belle image de ce mâle en train de brouter ; belle prise, mais je suis quand même un peu surpris que la profondeur de champs soit si longue.

Breathtaking! I agree, panoramas are not at their best in this format, but it is better than not seeing something this wonderful at all. Thanks . . .
