Thomas, I would have to go back and look at the negative to be sure, but I think it was full frame.

John, actually it's not cropped at all. He is a real 'in your face' guy, and that's how I shot him.

Hi Dirk -
Yes, baseball season is underway, and I'm back to working six days a week. So far, I've used my Mamiya 645 more than my trusty Rolleiflex because it has an ajustable eyepiece. My old eyes are finding it hard to focus these days. I'm using a (gasp!) digital Nikon for action shots, but I'm sticking with film for portraits.

Dan -
Funny you should mention the fence. I've been shooting candids at this same field for seventeen years now, and that damn fence is in about 95% of my shots. I've learned to live with it. ;->

Efisio - I been using PMK Pyro for about 15 years.
12 1/2 minutes @ 70 degrees F. I like the tonality of Rodinal, but it's too grainy for the 400 speed film I usually use. 100 speed medium format film with Rodinal should be wonderful.

Rina - I had to photograph about 200 first and second graders at a school in just over an hour. Not much time to worry about posing and such. This was one of my favorites. I warmed up the grey background in PS.

David - You are right! I didn't realize that I had already posted this image. I got the camera info wrong, too. It's from my Olympus OM, not my Rollei.
Oh well, it's a slightly different print, and sepia toned this time.

That's what I get for trying to work while half asleep. ;->

I have another beautiful shot of this girl taken when she was about 5. If I can find it, I'll post it tomorrow.

David - I removed the red color in photoshop, and adjusted the contrast and added a touch of blue. I bracked the original with 1/4, 1/8, 1nd 1/15 @ f8. I used a tripod.

Roger,
The image was badly exposed and 'fixed' in photoshop. The original was underexposed, and very red, taken just after sunset. I liked the baby's expression so I made a few b&w versions.

I haven't taken any photos for a while, as I've been busy with my bands. Little League season starts soon and I'll be back to using my old Rolleiflex.

Roger -
I was just playing around with Photoshop Elements. I've always been a proponant of straight, unmanipulated images, but damn! its fun to experiment with these digital toys.

I was doing a holiday card photo session with this boy and his family, and he spied the boxing gloves as they were leaving. These were taken in about 30 seconds, and the light was rather flat, so I've been fooling around with lighting effects with PS.

And I used to do a lot of hand coloring, so I'm partial to those soft tones.

To CorrieLynn -
I don't scan negatives. I make 8x10 prints, the old fashioned way, in my smelly old darkroom, and scan them. Right now I am using an Epson Perfection 1650 scanner, and I scan them at 150dpi and then shrink them down for web use. I've never made a print from these scans, they are just for uploading.

Hi cousin!

The picture was not from a boat, but from the shore. This is a skimboarder, not a surfer, which means they are riding the waves as they break right on the beach. The water is often only inches deep when they do theses marvelous tricks. I live in Laguna Beach, the skimboard capital of the world.
The Oly 135 was my favorite lens for capturing skimboarders, but alas, it fell apart about a year ago and I haven't had it repaired yet. I do very little 35mm work anymore, and I just started using a digital Nikon this summer, so my Olympus stuff is gathering dust.

Thanks, Stacey. I was just walking down the beach when I saw this composition. I took one quick shot, and I was surprised how good it turned out, because the low sun was just out of the frame on the right. Not the kind of light I usually work in, but sometimes you just get lucky.
