Holy shit what magnificent shot.

I even like the irony of the telegraph poles and power lines in the foreground. Like God is saying "that aint power...this is..kaboom"

Congratulations!!!

Nice! I have never tried but it is on my list. I aways guess you would have to use a bulb shutter and then release after the strike. You caught it with a 1 sec. shutter...

Very powerful photograph!

great shot! i have some shots of the same night, although, where i am (40 mins south of newcastle) we didn't get anywhere near as defined clouds as it seems you did. For a couple of weeks there we had some wild nights though... a photographer's dream!

Great shot Kevin - Steve Bull captured the same sky (over Newcastle) but I like the way you have framed it with the buildings. Check out Steves shot if you like:

Very cool Kevin! Almost looks like it is smoke from a smoldering hot fire!

I just got some pretty cool shots of the clouds today, just as the sun was setting! I plan to post them tomorrow!

Nice work )

Awesome clouds, it looks like the sky is being taken over by yellow-orange cotton balls! Very pretty though, in a dangerous sort of way.

Oh, yeah! Those are mammatus clouds, as cold air aloft starts sinking rapidly into the warmer lower layer.

Awesome shot, Kevin!!
