Indeed, very nice shot. I've always wanted to visit this part of the US, just never had the chance yet. For the moment, I can content myself with photos such as this one....

Warmest regards Naomi ~ James

Hi Naomi
I love this picture. To my opinion tis is not only a great landscape picture, very well seen, it is als perfectly taken with the 2 rainbows, the colors of them and the by them changed colors in the background.

During my trip threu the Faroe Islands and Iceland, I often tried to catch "this situation" but I never really succeeded. Eiter the bow became blurry or the landscape ...

Very well done, congrats!

Nice shot! I like photos with defined point of interest in front of the scene. In this case it's the bush with yellow flowers. The colors are fine also. Cheers!

Beautiful light capture again Naomi. Great location (great tree!) and a unique perspective. The common shot from this vantage point of course is the river wrap around the peninsula. Too many visitors overlook the fine landscape pieces for framing. You've captured the beauty and essence of "The Point". Wonderful tones and great color. Very nice. -john

Naomi,
Your composition in this photo is outstanding. You combined a combination of view, DOF, and time of day to produce a stunning portrait of nature. Thank you.

I too shoot RAW most of the time, and have had rather good luck with Capture NX. Setting "control points" I find is an interesting exercise in editting. This is a wonderful shot, however I think it has more there than what you're getting (and what we're seeing!). I've had the pleasure of visiting the high-desert Southwest many times and agree that there is no blue that compares to this Utah sky. Best regards, -john

Thanks for the suggestions, John. On this trip I mostly shot RAW and I'm struggling with tweaking colors, contrast, etc., when I convert. I haven't yet developed a successful way of doing it. Have you worked with converting RAW? -- Naomi

Naomi I think you lost some of that awesome high-desert blue up there, a saturation boost and contrast tweaking could bring out that memorable sky shade, and the red rock patina perhaps (?) -john

Hi Roby, Thanks for your comment. It was late afternoon and in the shade, but I wanted good depth of field, so the exposure was a little long. -- Naomi

Hi John, Thanks for your comment. I've added a wider shot and a little explanation of Newspaper Rock, but it sounded like you might be familiar with the rock. (I thought I was doing it as a reply, but I wasn't). -- Naomi

Hi John, Thanks for your comment. Here's a wider shot of Newspaper Rock -- not a great image, but it gives perspective. It is believed that this rock was used by many generations of indigenous people as they passed through the area. -- Naomi
