Execellent perspective with greta use of a wide angle. Love the dark colors in the in contrast with the light wood of the dock. Keep up the good work.

Hi Glen

Well seen. The reflections almost look like impressionist paintings hung in a window frame.

Thanks everyone for your kind and encouraging comments, when I posted this photo I wasn?t sure it would mean much to other Photographers, but this Seagull appeared so proud and smug that he/she had scored the biggest fish and I just had to take the shot.
Thanks again. Glen S.

Well this is, of course, a beautiful image - the colours are wonderful, and I think it's framed quite nicely.

I agree with the reviewer that said the rocks "pointing" towards the sun adds very nicely to your composition. I don't agree, however, with the reviewers who have stated that you should crop the image due to "the lower part of the image lacking in interest".

First of all, while the art of photography is subjective (therefore, you could even consider my opinion balderdash, if you like) I do believe what Mr. Palmer, and others, were referring to was a lack of subject matter or, "empty" space in the lower area of the image. However, what this "empty" space does quite well, is emphasize the concept of positive and negative space in an image - a subject being highlighted by the "empty" space around it - by drawing your eye to the subject of the image, in this case, the last moments of a beautiful sunset.

See the attached photograph of Alfred Stieglitz (a subject worth acquainting yourself with) as an example of positive and negative space. Notice how the black area's draw your attention to the the subject's (Stieglitz) face; in my opinion, the image would be nothing if the "blank" areas were taken away.

In the end, I like the image, and I would keep it just the way it is, I wouldn't even crop it to the first foreground object (the first visible rock) as was previously suggested, as I like it exactly as it stands - "blank" areas and all.

With Kindest Regards - Mike Hilliard.

Great work on the low angle and including the beach. It really adds something interesting to the sunset. I would crop the bottom but only up to the first bump (about 1 inch). I find the crop exemple that Matt Palmer made is a little too cropped and doesn't make the picture as attarctive. Keep up the good work.

This is another nice image Glen, beautiful view, I like the composition with the rocks in the foreground leading the eye into the image. And in addition you have a very nice diagonal of interest with the rocks pointing to the sun...the colors and the reflections on the water are wonderful. I can see why Janet asks the question about the horizon, it does look just a slight bit round..and I like Matt's crop as well, but I also agree with Mark, the darkness at the bottom of the image is well balanced with the darkness at the top of the image, so really you could have two really nice images, if you used Matt's crop as well..the horizon, I don't know..it certainly doesn't detract from the beauty of your work...very nicely done...Linda

Hi Glen

A fantastic Landscape with wonderful light. Personally I think you want the bottom portion it adds to the composition. Janet Marie thought the horzion was crooked ......... sheese.
Anyway well done I look forward to seeing more.

I think the bottom of the image is fine but is the horizon straight or is that a fisheye effect? Top marks!

A beautiful shot Glen, I love the way the sun catches the rocks and the water reflects the colours of the sky. I do feel though that the lower part if the image is lacking in interest, have you thought about a square crop such as this?

Best wishes
Matt
