thanks for the excellent comment blake, i didn't expect anyone to pick up on the title reference. the trapeze swinger is one of my favorite songs. i hear him describing a desire to remain; for a sort of permanence or transcendence- even if that is as a memory.
I think thats what we do with photography. its a very deliberate act of acknowledging the enduring impact of what was a brief moment,

think so? Doing so makes it a simpler shot...maybe focuses the attention more on the skater. I really like the view of the other pipes and the ability to see outside the pipe. I thought it brings some attention to the foot of curved concrete that contains him.

Hey Paul, you've got a great portfolio here.
I saw a shot you took on Vienna's facebook profile, and figured by the quality of composition that you must have some stuff floating around the internet. Found it.
Are you making money off your camera skills?

I was browsing through photos, and noticed the last name.
If you recall, I was one of Tomas' groomsmen; the one with the Nikon D80. Their wedding shots turned out great btw.

do you mind if I bounce some questions of you sometime?

nice DOF

Im surprised there are no critiques on this one yet...
Its a lovely shot... nice and delicate.
I like the blue of the flower, but perhaps keeping the stem, bud, and background the original color could help this shot.

good stuff

You have the loveliest tones here.
I think i'd remove the poles and telephone lines from the top, but that is all.
A gorgeous image.

All of the thin branches and twigs provide great detail and manage to avoid being too busy or messy...
pleasant colors, very well exposed.

I thought about cropping out the road and the grass, but it looked like I was chopping off the bottom of the barns. In hindsight, i think it would work if i cut out the road and left the grass...
thanks for the comments,

Its a gorgeous location, and I really like the tones. Your model seems a little out of place in this environment though. ...like she'd be a better fit in a concert recital rather than a decrepit alley.
