Thank you, Jim. I see your point about negative space. I appreciate the constructive advice!

Beautiful shot! The clarity and saturated colors really make this stand out. I do think there is room for improvement in your composition though. The flower is centered horizontally and off center vertically. I think the vertical orientation is great, but I think moving the flower far off center would add to the impact of your image. Even experiment with using negative space if you can. See the attached image and see the difference.

The photo looks a little grainy (as you said), also is a little desaturated looking, and slightly washed out looking (all of which I'm going to assume came from the scanner, if it caused the grain as well, nice scanner? or inexpensive?) Otherwise fairly nice, possibly a wider angle lens, if possible, there is a rock just along the right side of the frame that I find a little distracting, the way the photo sits now, I wouldn't say crop it out, but maybe with a different lens choice it could have fit interly into the frame, or the shot shifted left to get it out of frame. Not a big issue, I just find it mildly distracting.

One other thing you might want to consider for future waterfalls (this is a total preference, and what kind of look you want thing) but that is to make it a longer exposure, sometimes even say 1/30 second or so will do it, but it causes the water to all blur together, again depends on your preference and what you want from the photo.

All in all a great shot, must be some nice falls, I already want to go see them in person thanks to your photo, keep it up.

Thank you all for your comments. John - that's a great compliment, you flater me Chris - I wish I had other aquarium photos to share, the others were very blurry. I feel very lucky to have this one!

Dawn - I tried a trick I read in a photo. book - hold the camera right against the glass. I guess it cuts out some of the blur from the aquarium glass. Seemed to work in this case. My others (with faster swimming fish) were not this clear. Great that we use the same camera, I can't wait to look through your portfolio, I'm off to do that now! Sorry for the delay replying to your question.

Maarten - Thank you!

Very good picture. The image is sharp and it shows a lot of detail.

Hi Lori, Good work. Looks like we are using the same type camera. How did you get such a sharp image through the glass? That's a problem I've been having at the aquarium. Your photo is great!

Lori,

Nice shot, it looks like your swimming right next to it. Can't wait to see more of your work!

Nice work. It belongs in a National Geographic Magazine.
