Yes sir, I understand exactly what you mean in your words.
In the original image is also eye-socket is steeped in the great darkness. The reason that the sun is intense glare.
And the light coming from the back as well. Causing a great darkness in this Almttqh.
So that the camera did not record any information in that region.

This is a fine portrait of an interesting looking gentleman. He has a lot of character in his face. I like his expression, and also the toning you have used.
What I miss here, is seeing some detail in the eye area - all I see is blackness. I think probably in your original file there is a catch light at least in the eye?
I have attempted to add some light to the eye. The image is too finely compressed to do more, but I hope you understand what I am attempting.

Another historically important product of the City of Mosul after the fabric Muslin is this one of a kind soft Grey, Grayish white Marble, almost every old house in the city use this marble on walls, arches, windows framing, floor, and most important basements to keep the houses cool during the summer.
