Great composition on the theme "Petrified". I'll follow-up on your next post where you inverted the background and the car.

Thank you Elisa.
The originals have degraded quite a bit - this being one of the reasons I devoted many hours in scanning them. At first, I attempted to correct the colours one by one, but then I found that the automatic function of colour restitution in the scanning software was doing an incredible job and saving a huge amount of time. Only here and there was it required that I retouched the result.

Good day Elisa.
I was given for my birthday a book of old photographs from Montreal - sort of history through images. At the beginning of the XXth century, you can see that there were rows of men shovelling snow, and some horses too with a large plow. This I didn't know - only the very noisy machinery. But I remember from my stay in Peru the conforting sound of the street sweepers early in the morning.

Suomi, Svensk, English, and even a little Old Nork from your part I guess ? Learning languages is mind opening, isn't it ?

Good morning Don. I missed this one, sorry for that.
This is one great moment. DOF is crucial, and, wow, you have it nailed. I like the soft background, it makes the bird stand out. And the bird itself is a curiosity.

Bonjour Fabrice !

Great to dive into the piece of the Universe you invite us to admire. Little things, a curve, a beautiful light, and we are allready in a new dimension.

The softness and the glow complement the composition in a perfect way. With the nice colours and the mix of colours, one gets a soothing feeling.

It's a nice effect. I like how you revealed the glow in this picture - very artistic.

Of a rare beauty - what a refreshing contribution - the power of light is here so present, I feel the regeneration.

Great expression and well catched. The framing adds up to the funny look she is giving us. I just regret that her lens is cutting part of her left eye.

Je partage les éloges des remarques précédentes. Un seul défaut : je trouve que les réflexions sur les lèvres osnt un peu trop fortes.

Great view - the S shape - of course - is a strong graphic element. I like the sunlight coming in in the upper part.

Hi Gary.

Just like Ina, I was wondering about the scale here. Probably from quite far, since you used a 300mm. Anyway, interesting movement in there, and the texture is unusual, between silky and metallic.

Hard to ask for more... The light glow is superb. The image is very crisp too, and the composition is nice : I like how the tree line draws a smooth curve. I was wondering if the blue masses of the lake and the sky were not too present, but I think that it gives a sense of the open spaces.

Très intéressante votre série graphique sur la plage. J'apprécie aussi cette attention aux petits détails qui nous entourent.

Yes Elisa, it would be tilting toward the land if it were pushed by the wind. In this case, it's due to erosion because of the unusually high level of the waters.

Holds a lot of possibilities. You have done an excellent job in mirroring on both axes. I like what this type of postprocessing can induce - it can bring a whole new dimension in.

Hello Elisa.
The movement of the water was crunching the ice fragments against themselves, making a very singular noise in an otherwise calm and serene environment.
BTW. Winter is gone... we only had one snowfall. The temperature hangs over 0 C - we even had 11 C last Saturday. Grass is green, in January... never seen that.

Bonjour Fabrice.

Hello Audrey.
Thanks for commenting. Your suggestion for a tighter crop rings a bell. Initially, my first rendition was to crop the original 16:9 ratio to a 4:3 one as you can see here http://elf8.smugmug.com/photos/119113396-O.jpg
In the one posted here, i opted for the full frame version. I was fighting with the principles of having an odd number of elements in the composition : here 5, with the shrub in the LR corner echoing the leftmost tree.

Impressive. I like the global composition : a nice triangle leading into the distant horizon. I like also the contrast between the sharp details in the crisp snow and the silky surface of the stream.
