An interesting view of a difficult to photograph landmark. The person at the side adds balance, well done.

Nor have I ever seen one. I didn't realize their eyes formed horizontal slits. I might have been afraid, don't they fight back in fear?

Thanks, Jack. My dogs are almost 9, littermates. They say that the color of a golden's ears are a good index of what they will look like as adults. If that is true, he will be a little darker than the blonde look right now.

Cheers,

Dave

Great plumage, Todd. I think it's a young male.

I really like it, Paul. It has a professional look, especially with those pleasing flowers in the foreground. Nice how you got detail in her facial shadows, despite the harsh lighting. Did you use a reflector or fill flash? The grass just to this side of the front (camera left) tire looks slightly blurred, presumably wind blur.

Thankyou, Todd. As has been said before about the 300, this is an amazingly fast and sharp lens. Certainly better than any lens I have ever owned.

Really good image, very descriptive of the white tailed deer, Todd. I've had trouble getting good shots of this species, compared with the more common mule deer that we see out west.

Am I correct to say this is a sandhill crane? Brilliant sharpness, excellent background.

Beautiful ambience. This recreates a feeling I've had in the past, and never been able to capture as well as this. Previously the main difficulty has been the slow shutter speed thing with supersaturated films. Maybe it will be easier with digital.

He seems really happy with his place in the family. I really like that blue collar. Just a word of warning about the way he is draping his front paws across your truck. One of my retrievers (of course the male) put all kinds of scratches on the paint of my truck with this very posture. I ultimately had to strap his collar tight enough that he couldn't easily assume this posture. Another great photo, Jack.

Hey, Nathan. I see that you are still shooting film. It's not so easy with sports to get a good film image. Whey I switched to digital and better autofocus equipment, my sports images improved dramatically. This image is pretty good, though I find the background distracting. Did you shoot wide open? Sidelighting is good for colors but more difficult to get keepers. I also found that shooting older boys provides more opportunity for competitive athletic images. Shooting girls is more of a challenge, as they do more standing around.

Nice subject placement, difficult contrasts. This looks like a place I wouldn't want to be in a rainstorm. I'll bet water rushes through there in a life-threatening torrent, with nowhere to hide.

Thanks, Todd. The links didn't work until I clipped off the end ")." Great views. I just took delivery of a Canon 300 2.8 IS, hope to try it out in the next few weeks. I really like the lighting here, well planned. Dnag, another typo (!).

I found mountains like Victoria here to be a lot more interesting than big walls. I have lots of memories of the Rockies, rejuvinated by photos like this. That inspirational feel of cold air, warm breeze, exposure, and dramatic views are nicely shown here. I don't climb much any more, mainly because of domestic responsibilities. But I really envy you guys, who seem to live the dream.

Outstanding framing, really good environmental portrait. Lighting feels a little weak, causing a minor lack of sharpness. There seem to be a few dust spots scattered around. My eye keeps getting unfortunately drawn to that vertical (?) road to the right of your subject. I would have this one on my wall somewhere.

Another timely moment, Todd. You seem to know your area well, as you have posted a lot of close raptor pics. Do you know the species?

Hey, Marty, I haven't seen a post from you in quite a while. Glad to see you still visit here.

It was inspiring to look over your portfolio again this evening. Low volume, high definition. Makes me wanna try some portrait work, with a window and a reflector. So, do you do photography professionally, or is it a sideline?
