This is spooky, here is the photograph of same ship at same time from European side of Istanbul Serafettin. What a coincidence we were both photographing the same thing from opposite directions on the same day.  loved the weather this time in Istanbul. Thanks for sharing

I just finished Peter Eastway's "Landscape Photography" (Lonely Planet Pubs)last night so here is a bunch of ideas:
The light in the middle of the day in Istanbul is just too harsh. Morning or evening will give better definition, color, and showdow details. This light just blows out everything so the cruse ship blends with the background and neither have any color left. Notice the foreground has color while the rest is lost in haze.
The background buildings are centered so they divide the picture and make it static. Also the sky has nothing of interest showing and overwhelms the other half of the picture. A polarizing filter (ouch! I bought one yesterday) may help reduce glare and a graduated neutral density filter would darken the sky so the clouds show.
I like the tower on the left to frame the picture, but the masts from the small boats in the foreground really hurt when they spear the other boats. The center of interest also needs better definition - I think it's the cruse ship, but that is cut in half.
You have such a great colorful heritage area I am looking forward to seeing more.

Serafettin, i must admit that this is one of the best pics of istanbul I have seen in a long time. the bird in mid flight is magical.My suggesstion is to crop and make it more panaromic.. Just an idea. Works for places and landscapes.
