The band is actually MADNESS, not English beat... But still a great song!

Anyway, this is a great photo. :-) I like it very much... I want to see the guy a little off center though...

Chels, I love everything you have uploaded lately, but I think this is my Fave. I like the abstract look, and the textures very much.

Amazing! Glad to see your heart wasn't pounding so much you couldn't hit the shutter release! :-)

John, You got my vote on this already, but wanted to mention to MarySue that the next time she comes out to Cali, she should come down here and we can drag her to the Disney concert hall. :-)

So simplistic, but so beautiful. I am usually not a fan of gimmicky frames, but I think it works fantastically here. This is great!

This is so very cool... If only you had been able to reflect a little more light on the photographer. Even so, it's great!

Very abstract! Love the color with the graying sky! I think you could get away with cropping off a little of the top and right side. Your subject is the red construction and the empty sky is just a bit distracting... Try a crop and see if it seems a bit punchier. (Yes, that IS a word. :-)

Miguel, when you shoot a photo at a faster shutter speed, the darker background parts will come out black because there just isn't enough light coming from the background. The brightness of the foreground is all that the film or digital sensor will record. Jean-Francois' suggestions will also work. Velvet does indeed absorb light well.

Miguel, I did NOT shoot this in a studio. The easiest way to pull this off is to place your flower into direct sunlight and position it in such a way that there is DEEP shade behind it. That's what I did here. Bright sun and shade behind makes a lovely black background. To add to the mix a little, you can use a reflector to fill on some of the areas on the flower without effecting the background at all. Hope this helps / makes sense.

Nicely done MS. Thanks for the great comment on my latest. I attempted a reply, but think I really just need to reshoot it... If the poppy field will cooperate. :-)

About this shot: It's got a great sillhouette, excellent composition, and lovely colors. I like it very much...

Thanks guys. Actually, I should have shot a bunch of this, but I was lazy. Next time I will make sure to bring the pod and fire off a ton of shots with all different DOF.

Insanity! But still so cool! Excellent John! Love it! You should up the saturation on the pier a tiny bit to bring out that red roof on the roundhouse.

Eric at least knows how to spell Petals. Speaking of petals, the DOF on this is awesome. For some reason, I want more... more oomph to the background. The grey seems kind of bland to me... (I know, that's not the subject, but still...) The flower is awesome however, so tell me to shut up whenever you want. Just remember that this would NOT look good with Alisa's Holga. ;-)

DE-Holga this and put some color in it! Holga is NOT the be all and end all of cams. Quite the opposite actually. ;-)

Now, this looks pretty cool but I suspect it NEEDS some color, drastically. Please?
