I to thought this a child, but didnt see it as scary, looked like an excited child, laughing and moving about to me... I think this is really well done,, Like it alot Mike,,

I originally thought this was a child in the foreground. Interesting image that caught my attention. Some people might have just shot the sunset....but the silouette really adds to the picture making it a much more interesting shot. Thanks for sharing.

I find this image disturbing -- the sunset looks like some sort of fire ball and the pose of the statue looks terrified -- at first I thought of Pompei and later of more recent events. I doubt it was what you intended but it is what I thought when I enlarged the photo.

Mike looking at this again I think if you had gotten there earlier you would have gotten more of the light you wanted...granted you would have lost the texture of the detail of the boat.....but with a grad filter it would open up the bottom for detail like Andy said. I know this comment was posted a while back but thought it was neat how you have to 2 side by side..maybe some others can benefit from it as well.

Maggie, I either used a Neutral Grad .6 filter or a Circ. Polarizer...I can't remember. Fill flash on a sunny day was what really pumped up the colors on this...the sky deep blue sky was due to the filter.

Artie, I'll see if I can try again...the flowers are starting to get really heavy and are falling over...but i'll try a redo.

the mian flower is really good here Mike as the last but I know you see the need for a more subtle range of light here from the main to the background.....still a very cool concept and you handled it realy well but I still expect to see this scream.especially the way your doing it....good potential and really close to a nail.....

Hey Mike great shot!!...saturation of colors is awesome. Did you use a polarizer? Only thing I would do is crop down to that cloud on the left side, otherwise perfect imo......*smile*...Maggie

Scrumptious...I still don't see how you all get these colors out of mother nature. Never have I seen such as these that you and John get. I know in time I will find out your secret. I've seen some clouds in the winter almost this color, but never water? Hmmm....

Mike, this a beautiful image, BUT I think you may have treaded on the trademark of John Shephard by using "HIS" colors!

In answer to Artie's question...no this is not PS'd (except for unsharpmask and levels to make it look like the slide). The slide looks almost identical to the scan, except for the fact that I scanned to open shadows.

Mike I like the way that you have lead us into your scene by filling your corners with the path edges. The light is too flat to make this work. Late morning or afternoon light perhaps? Keep shooting :-)

Artie- You were right about the image. The image was more about the cool water ripples rather than the duck...I took a picture with extremely tight framing on the same duck (300mm @ about 15 ft away) but although I love tight frames, i liked the feel of this picture much more.

Alisa-I was hoping nobody would notice, the spot that you thought was water, was actually a lens flare of some sort...I wasn't using my lens hood. I posted this image virtually untouched by photoshop.
