Dan, I like same type of photography, so I'll give you advice not to include unnecessary areas into photo. With your zoom lens I would zoom into to include area starting under advertisment to exclude this strange bridge like thing, and "crop" sligtly from above also.

Also faster prime wide angle lenses could be really helpful for night photography. You will get better datail and color. And take filter from your lens if you used it during daytime.

Nice long time exposure shot.

Better then other ones compositioanally, but still not perfect.
Focus is not perfect, DOF is not blured enough.
Nice colors.

Shift to the left to avoid bright window on background. Use 50mm f/1.8 lens.

I like the andle and steam from the cup. I don't like strong reflection from the plate, background with furniture takes aways from main subject - cup with coffe. Window is completelly burned out.
1. change your position to avoid window in farme while leaving it's lighting for steam.
2. try using circular polarizing filter to reduce reflection.
3. Use fully opened diaphragm to blur out background and create dreamy effect.
4. 50mm f/1.8 lens will be perfect for this shot.

Davin, I'll gone give my opinion to you because of you post in forums.
3 things that I don't like here are blured distracting subject in right upper corner, hot reflecting sput on her hose, and underexposed eyes.
While shoting portraits you really need to work with lighting, or find best possible location. Use flash to reduce shades in sunny days, during cloudy days find open space.

Best lens for shot like this one is fast 50mm EF f/1.8 lens. You will get much better detail and colors.

Francesca, It's really nothing to improve in shot like this. Perfect timing, composition, expression on child's face, charismatic colors.
You are talanted girl. sooner you will buy DSLR for yourself better it will be, because lot of your images could sell in high resolution.

Thanks, Fabrizio! I've seen more then couple sunrises and mormings on the ocean, this one was really special. Light area near horizon was so weird, like something was comming to ward shore: storm, rain, wind, whatever. And it didn't. Actually when I came to the shore, well before sunrise (~ 4.30 A.M.) sky was clear, clouds came from land latter. So, this light pinkish colored line is far mist over ocean lighted better then area where I'm standing.
Anyway, it was unique view. And because of this shot, vacation was successfull....

David, I shot only view first, then I previewed result (DSLR) thought about perfect spot to stand, started timer and ran. Actually it's sandy area with constant waves going over it. I simply looked at some shell on the sand where I'll be standing and ran there after trigering timer. Of course beautiful model will make this image MUCH better!!!!! )))

Andrea, right, sink deeper.... It's o funny I was sinking into it no matter how hard I tried to avoid it. Even with beach chair I got motion blur because of this damn sand....

Hi Mark! Amazing story about him, his life, his mistakes and winns. No matter what he will be in the history of Pop music, American history and as extraordinary person. Interesting will be to read serious book about him and his life after all will be over....
Very fancy ticket. Thanks for sharing.

Mark, I think it's overexposed by flash not only on shirt, but on face. You probably metered from this black mask.... ) what about shoting him without flash in long exposure veiling-motion?
Also I like helicopter-like wings over his head.... )

Thank you P.J. for your comment and tweek. I think i like original more, because of natural contrasts.... Good image is good cropped or uncropped. I try to compose at place, I liked tha fact that flag is dominant on BG. here is original: http://www.shutterpoint.com/Photos-ViewPhoto.cfm?id=189610

Mark,
nice recent shots you made. European style. Lazy, looking down from upstairs. And soft tones. Must be quiet period in life...
I really like woman walkin below you, and circular stairs image. But not only...
