High contrast hides lots of details and makes the photo abstract. The tilted horizon and the off-center subject suggest spontaneousness. But, I wonder, can't we make all pictures this way?

I hope my maid has uniform like that...
On the other hand, if my maid is that pretty she'll probably be a model or a dancer...

She's so pretty. That's for sure.
Traditional children's photography focuses on the their innocence, playfulness with their wide open eyes. This one is different. Both her clothing and gesture are sophisticated. And she's posing for the photographer, very conscious of the camera. This is a glamour approach of children's photography.
Oh, did I say she's pretty?

Wow... very nice.
I like the 90% sky, the 10% ground, and how they meet.

I'd like to meet Kulusuk residents.

If only the canoe is a bit older and older fashioned. Also I think it's over-exposed. Love the mist though. Beautiful.

I would probably get much closer to the subject to take the shot. His dirty feet are so dramatic -- perfect foreground to contrast the busy shoppers...

Why did I cut the legs? I tried not to but I couldn't back off any further (a cliff behind me). Also, the photo is not staged. The character is not aware of me taking her photo, and she's about to walk away... So I just clicked.

You are right about the character being cut. I knew about it when I took the shot, but couldn't overcome due to limit of the location. That's why the little piece of rock at the lower right hand side of photo becomes important as it provides a little balance to the composition.
