Thank you for your comment, Jed. I agree, but unfortunately the 500mm has only one aperture, f8.0

Wonderful picture. Hope you did not take too much risk to make the shot.

Unfortunately, no good crop without the half-head. It would have taken the tree out on the left.

I even thought about cloning him out. At the end, I decided - that's life...

Can't help with the snow, James. But thanks to GIMP, were you thinking about something like this?

Thank you for all your comments. Where in China do you live? Shanghai?

Jürgen

Wonderful action picture, Heath. I really like how you used the wide black border for effect in this series. I may have to use this some time in the future myself, if you don't mind.

Wonderful shot, heath. My wife grew a few of these little ones in a pot on the deck last year ? but the dog snatched them away whenever they were red enough.

It's a fun lens, Heath. As it's a mirror lens, it is technically not very long, though :-)

I really enjoyed your Zion series, Gregory. We lived in Phoenix for eight years and had visited every park and monument several times ? except for Zion. Is definitely top on the list for when we come back.

In the mean time, your series gave us some great views of the park.

Thank you for sharing,
Jürgen

Thank you for your comments, George.

Our weather was mostly overcast, too (in fact smog), but I was lucky that we got a few hours of sun in the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven. The entire day at the Great Wall was sunny, too.

Rewarding that you liked the series.

Thank you for your comment, Deb. Everywhere we went (Great Wall, Summer Palace, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven ?) they were ready for tourists running out of digital film. Everyone offered SD and Compact Flash. Only memory stick was in pretty short supply.

Stunning picture, Bryan. Looks like the animal is very well aware of the fact that it is being photographed.

Thank you for your comment, Abel.

I spent the first week of December 2004 in Beijing. It was a great trip. I saw the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven on weekdays. Maybe the cold and the workday helped keeping the crows small.

Great picture, Patrick. I really love the bird in the picture. Makes you appreciate the DOF.

I did a stitch from the lake a while a go. Take a look at my Chicago portfolio: http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?mode=portfolio&portfolio_ id=8710&summary=1

I feel with you, Ferdinaqnd. The Nikon D70 is in the shop for a sensor/low-pass filter cleaning right now so I have been using the Canon S400 and S100 (similar to your IXUS) more often lately.

Take a look at the digital stitches I made with the S100 (http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?portfolio_id=8677)

Hope the other camera is doing better again,
Jürgen

Great shot, Agnieszka. Is the dog by chance a West Highland White Terrier? The dog looks quite comfortable in grandma's arms.

Our Westie (his name is Tobi) does not like to be carried at all. Take a look at my "Tobi the Westie" portfolio at http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?portfolio_id=8678

Sarah Hansegard also has a portfolio of Westies. In fact she has double trouble (e.g., two of them). Some fun pictures at http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/21162.html

Jürgen

Great picture, Agnieszka. The dog seems to bve pretty happy in grandma's arms. Is that a West Highland White Terrier?

Take a look at my series with Tobi the Westie (http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?mode=portfolio&portfolio _id=8678). Sarah Hansegard has two of them (http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/21162.html)

Beautiful capture, Howard. Which scanner are you using for the slide scan? I have a lot of slides in my basement and consider purchasing one myself. I also have B&W strips and APS cartridges, though.

Best regards,
Jürgen

Great capture, Rex. I assume you had to be patient to get this kind of shot. Is there a fifth animal coming from the background to help?

Great shot, James. I like how you got a close-up and an entire saguaro cactus into the same picture.

We visited Saguaro National Park during our vacation in Arizona in August 2004 as well. Take a look at my Saguaro portfolio at http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?mode=portfolio&portfolio_ id=11132. You may also like the ?South of Tucson? images at http://www.usefilm.com/browse.php?mode=portfolio&portfolio_ id=10441.
