Hi Ilir. Indeed this is an outstanding photo, the clarity and focus is razor sharp here. well done ~ James

good shot. the engine room (and the engines) seem small for a ship of that class. i've been in the engine room of some navy frigates in the past and they're a lot bigger.

i see you have a new camera. I was going to look at a D300 as well, but settled for a D200 that I bought in Hong Kong last weekend. I'm sure you'll get good use out of it, as will I.

Hi Konstantin, thanks for those corrections. Kashgar is indeed at a crossroads of different ethnic groups, and thats part of what makes it very interesting.

I kind of like it, the colours seem pale, but I like it because it reminds me of some wallpaper I had in my condo several years ago. I like this type of colour scheme :)

Did the colours turn out the way you had hoped Alison?

Alison, we (UF82222 and I) never really planned to go to the airport that day. We were headed to the ancient capital at Ayuthaya, but the rain was so heavy we turned back and came to the airport instead. All the aircraft photos in these two uploads of mine were taken very close in time to one another. This was the only photo where the sky was decent, all the others were hazy and/or heavy cloud. Plus we had the sun in a bad spot, it was about 3-4pm and if I had waited another second or two for this photo, I would have been pointing my camera in the direction of the sun.

Anyway, it was the first time I had tried this type of photography, and you really need to search out a place where you wont be found but where you can also get a good view. Which reminds me, we did find one spot where we were right under the aircraft as they passed overhead but for some reason we went to this location instead.

Excellent work AJ, and as noted its razor sharp. What type of bird is this? Never seen the likes that face before.

Would you be good enough to explain the revised workflow you mention in the "About" up above?

Take care ~ James

Hi AJ. I also see a little jaggedness around the wingtip, but in the file I uploaded from my laptop, the image looks fine. I'm sure I unchecked the default sharpening that UF puts on photos, otherwise, I can't think of what it might be.

About the plane being too far forward, I agree. I had several shots of this one aircraft but that was the best one, I'd like to have had him come around again. I suppose I could have cropped some off the right side, but I like to keep the image intact as much as possible. Like I said, we were getting hassled by some local "police" and didnt have much time to play around setting up the photos.

Good morning Mehul. Very good vision to see this and to be able to photograph it in such lighting conditions. Well done. Just curious how long that tunnel is?

Hi Alison. Xinjiang, especially around Kashgar where I took these photos, is a crossroads of civilizations. The borders with Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Tajikistan are all quite close to Kashgar, and its not far off the Old Silk Road, so you can imagine that there has been a lot of interaction between different ethnicities in this region. These men don't look Chinese, and they also dont speak Chinese very well (if at all) since they speak Uighur.

This is one part of China where the Han Chinese are still trying to exert more control over.

Bobot, these men are all from Xinjiang, the far west of China. They're Chinese citizens, but ethnically, they're muslim Uighurs, the ethnic majority in Xinjiang.

Xinjiang is indeed an interesting place to visit.

Bobot, the presentation isnt the most important aspect as you know. As long as the photo is done properly, thats the main thing.

I only recently started using a frame around my photos simply because I think it looks neater and it confines the photo inside the frame, helps to define it more. A lot of photos can disappear into the white UF background....

Is that your kitchen in Guatemala?

Hi Bobot. Well done with the photo here. Just looks like a bunch of dead bodies laying around, I've never seen people sleeping on a floor in that arrangement before. Although I've seen people sleeping right on the edge of busy streets here in China.

The frame here is more effective than on the last photo "Horizon" that I commented on. Probably because you used a drop shadow box here.

Good worl. James

hi again friend! i like this one, its simple and effective. but for the frame, i would have made a thin white strip around the photo and then added a thicker black one on the outside. thats personal preference but i think the white on the outside is lost in the UF webpage.

have a great day there ~ James

Well done and I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Looks like we share a similar interest in this type of architecture. The symmetry here is very good and pastel colours are nice. It's simple and I like it.

Well done Gianna.

I love cycling. Nicely done with the blur effect, I've tried it, and its not easy to get it right. What was your shutter speed and aperture for this one?

Alberto, if you havent tried, and if you are interested, donwload neatimage from neatimage.com and use it to get rid of the noise in this image. Will improve it a lot in my opinion. unless your goal was to have it that way :)

Good shot Alberto. Also been to Angkor but I have no photos from there worth uploading here. Its a bit crooked, thats my only critique. At least you have a view that isnt crawling with tourists, which is one of the major threats to this historical treasure these days. Siem Reap has grown ten fold in the past few years. all tourist related.

Alison, my previous comment had more to do with presentation, and nothing more. the image itself is fine :)
