Jim,
Thanks for your comment - always a judgment call as to whether or not to go totally black. The original had a black bg behind the flower, but the leaves that remained still seemed to distract. But, attached is the un-adjusted. Which do you prefer now??

thanks, Robin
Glad you like them. I don't use a flash, but s flashlight. small led. I have to adjust the wb, but otherwise I can focus the light where I want, hence the long exposure.
Happy New Year!

actually, no. Some might be from the same, but I used I think 3 flowers .All similar, but still had unique characteristics.

Hi
You're right, very similar except you did yours in situ...
mine was in the kitchen with a whole lot more control over the elements. Nice shot.
Thanks for the comment.

Hassan,
Thanks for your comment. No, no flash, but a small led flashlight. That's why there is a 5 sec exposure.
Thanks again,
Greg

Hi Paul,
Just checked out your portfolio. Quite an eclectic collection! This one is so familiar! We are farmers, so the scene is quite at home with us. Have you switched to Nikon from Canon or do you use both?
Take care, keep shooting.

Hi paul,
Sure, we know where Peterstown is - way down south! Actually go in that direction every once in a while to visit friends in White Sul. Sps. Also, Max-flex fence is in that area. Thanks for the comment!

Ray,
Thanks for your kind words. Probably, it is because I don't comment much on other's photos. I regret that I don't have time to do this ( we are farmers) but I do appreciate those of you who take the time to comment on my pics and I'm glad they bring joy to some folks.

Hi and thanks,
Re: purple- this also was blue to start off with. Adjusting white balance can help, or, isolate the petals, then with color adjustment (PS, image> adjustments> color balance) add a little red or magenta till it looks like it should. (isolate with quick selection tool)
Cheers,
Greg

Thanks, Ray.
I appreciate your comment. Actually, I noticed afterwords that these were slightly damaged by the single digit cold nights we've just had. Hope now ones come up that I can try again.
Cheers,
Greg

Thanks, Brian. Glad you liked it. I like yours too. I've been trying to get more of a close up of these but even with the 100mm macro this was the best I could do. What lens/ camera do you use? Nova Scotia - wow - must have lots of frost opportunities :)

Ciao Giuseppe
Thanks for your comment. Sorry it took me so long to answer. Now that fall is here, we should have a little more free time. Glad to hear that you are back with UF. I always enjoy hearing from you and seeing your great pics.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your nice comment. As far as lighting is concerned, I use mostly a small led flashlight, 3 watt bulb I think, mini-mag lite. During the 6 sec shutter time I can move the light around. This one was focused behind the center for a bit and a little on the front to catch the drops. Many shots were taken to get the right combination.
Cheers,
G

Hi Sethu,
Thanks for your comment. I lock up the mirror on the camera, use a remote shutter release and, of course, use a steady tri pod. I shoot these inside so wind is not a factor.

Hi Brigitte,
Thanks for commenting. Mostly I use a small led mag-lite flashlight. Light direction is various, during the 6 seconds.
Cheers,

Hi
and thanks for taking the time to comment and offer a different perspective on this pic. Sure, the square works. Except that I would have had to compose a tighter shot to begin with in order to get good clarity on the closeup - I'm sure you see the beginnings of loss of resolution at his size. But I think it works too. Thnks again

Sure we've heard of Paw Paw, but I couldn't put my finger on a map to locate it. - would have to look it up. Took a quick look at your portfolio - looks fascinating - hope to take a closer look when Ihave time. We're putting up hay this week.
Thanks for your comments.
