Oh well, Humm.. of course it's stunning, not that I am green or anything... oh yes, nearly forgot, Dave wants a copy can you do one for him?
I'm gonna charge a finders fee

Must have been away when you posted this one. It's really stunning. Looks like some sort of alternate reality in which night and day coalesce.

Hello Sylvia. I enjoyed the fact that you used one of my favourite films, FP4. Good contrast and fine grain are among its many attributes and it really suits the subject. I really like this Photoshop treatment. The colours are really well chosen and suit the subject well. Nice work!

Cheers!
Jeff

FOR SALE: Historic two storey home has been the subject of beautiful photographs seen around the world. Open concept plan will facilitate many potential modifications. Plenty of running water. Will suit younger couple looking for a lifetime commitment.

A wonderful composition with dramatic lighting and layer upon layer of detail. A real trip. I too find the sky unusual. The clouds look too big for their placement in the sky.

This is an amazing photo. I must say though, that for some reason the sky seems odd.

The light is amazing, giving the land texture and colour and making the whole photo come alive. Th composition is perfect with a clear fore, mid and background, giving the shot a very nice sense of depth. The placement of that one tree at a golden mean and the framing with the weeds at the bottom both add to the balance. Nice shot!

A good one Sylvia, I wouldn't worry about the refelction, it has its' counterpart with the next tree. Colouring the brolly was a touch of genius.

Great shot Sylvia. Looks like your walker is being given the cold shoulder. As long as your in photoshop (love the red umbrella by the way) maybe you could get rid of the reflection of the tree behind the walker's left foot. Just a thought.

Hello Elangovan. Thanks for your comment. It was actually not set up, more of a grab shot - the walker just came along and I managed to get her just in the right place at the right time. It was an awful day, the light was terrible and I was finding it hard to compose a picture when she just walked into the shot - Bingo!!!

I enjoy the moment here... the way both are moving(!) - right legs & left hand forward... I dont know, whether, this is a setup or a candid, either way this is an excellent shot.

Sylvia, your saturation of colors is outstanding, love it. I hate to say this but it makes me look forward to autumn!
I would prefer this image with a crop, without the left dark area and the shadow - to me it is competing with the incredible scenery - actually it doesnt really even take away from the beautiful scenery, it just doesnt add to the beauty of the image for me, I always aim to simplify a photo. just my thoughts, outstanding beauty here

Thanks for your comments Susan. The glass in the picture is not coloured but there is a great deal of stained glass in this Cathedral in some of the other cloisters. As the glass in this part of the cathedral is plain it means there is a lot of light for taking hand held photos.

Actually, it is a fascinating subject and the B&W works very well. Is the glass of the stained variety?

Hi John! Nice to have a comment from a familiar name - glad you are still posting your pictures. The red does make a good contrast to the light tones in the picture - these people moved seconds after I shot it. The light in this Hall is fantastic - must go back soon.
Cheers.

Hi Jeff,
Thanks for your helpful suggestion re downsizing. I will try your method with my 885. Yes, it is a nice camera but I am hoping to get a digital SLR this year (hopefully) to give me a bit more scope. Anyway I am just off on a quick trip up to London with my 885 tomorrow - hope the weather
is good for some travel shots around Kensington.
The magazine is called 'Digital Photo' - out monthly. I can recommend it.

Hello Sylvia. Hmmm... I was just wondering if that same bird will have to carry a torch (or even two in the style of aeroplane navigation lights) when you go back at twilight. ))

I have the earlier 880 version of the camera you used. I try to take pictures at the highest quality it allows (I bought a 128Mb card that permits 13 shots instead of the 1 shot obtainable with 16Mb card that the camera came with. Files are saved as RAW files and I find that they can then be sampled in PS to the size needed without losing detail. After that they are saved as .jpg with medium to high compression quality (I usually select from7~9).

A magazine? Impressive! I hope they publish it. Which one so I can look out for it?

Cheers!
Jeff
