Now what a frame using the trees to create a tunnel to look through. The pinkish color of the building really make it stand out while the effect you used really makes it look like a painting. I would have not use that much of the effect as it makes it a little hard to know what you are looking at. Keep up the good work.

One can be for or against, but I am for! I like the special effects. Often a sight of for exemple a town or a street, seems like a postcart you can buy everywhere, but with some special effects it becomes something special, made by an artist! So this is for me very beautiful.

Ciao e grazie Patrizio!
Can I ask what the Italian word, 'davvero' means? - as I am struggling to learn your language!
Saluti. Colin.

Colin I think both images are stunning, both in different ways!! What a beautiful place, it looks big and yet secluded and private. Very nicely seated in the midst of all the lush greens, and the lighting is wonderful!! I too have an interest in photo manipulation and recently bought a painting program but still have to figure out how to use it, and find the time. I really love the impressionistic look of your image, very lovely effect!!
Art and photography and their expressions do not have to be limited or restricted by rules IMO, but should be open to exploration. I like what you did with this!
Colin, I read in your bio that you suffer chronic pain with FMS and I just want to say that I'm sorry to hear that. That cannot be easy, I'm glad that you have photography as a diversion. I wish you good thoughts and well feelings!!

Thanks very much, John. I appreciate both the positive words on my photoart, and the kind offer.
It's interesting that you're a carpenter, (my name's Cartwright!) I traced my great grandfather, who made coffins! He came from Yorkshire, and moved up 'north', here, in Victorian times.

Hi Colin, I don't believe that each kind of photography has to stay in "in rigid compartmentalized boxes". What I mean is that we have to look forward and not simulate the "past" with the new techs. In my opinion the digital imaging has a lot of potential that we don't use yet ...because we still think in "analogic" way. So...not a boxed compartmentalized boxes" but a universe of new ideas ! :)))

An excellent critique, Giuliano!
If you meant that we should stick to photography or painting, in rigid compartmentalized boxes, then that is one point of view. But I like to be flexible, and if my photography does not remind me of the actual atmosphere, or event at that point in time, then I cannot see why you should not use modern software manipulation, to the purpose it was intended.
We all have different opinions and tht is what makes sites like this so interesting (and addictive!).
Riguardi gentili e ciao Colin

Hi Colin, apologize but photo is photo, paint is paint (and image is image). I don't believe that technologies have to be used to compensate at missing skills. Probably I'm too much strong but also the use of digital photo is wrong if we use it to replicate what we are not able to do on analogic photos. Each tools and technologies have to be used for what it can give but...looking ahead.
Just a personal opinion... (more than 25 words ;) ... I fully agree with your post on the forum!)
Bye
Giuliano
P.S. My last picture has been taken in Liguria too!

Very nicely done, Colin, my friend...altho' I doubt your confessed "poor painting skills" (clearly I'm going to have to go over there and ply you with canvas/paper and your choice of media and watch you work), you definitely have an artist's soul. This one must go into my favs.

Thanks for your thoughtful comment, Dana. I liked my original photo, (which I have posted below it), as it was such a beautiful area of Italy.
However, I felt it needed some 'painted' effects, to emphasize, (and try to recreate), my memory of this atmospheric and unspoilt place.
The images from these past holidays, make excellent, photo manipulation material!
Regards Colin
