Ashley:
First, I think the DOF is PERFECT. It makes the mushroom and green ground foliage pop out almost 3-D! Wonderful color and great conveyance of texture.
I do think, though, that the focus is a bit soft on the mushroom itself. To my eye, it seems sharper on the green, foreground foliage. That's the only thing I could find which could, in my opinion, improve this shot.
The composition is perfect and the BG complements and strengthens the whole. The contrast is nothing to worry about because in this case it looks very good. All in all, I think it's very well done!
