Hi Arthur. Thanks for your kind words. This particular spot offers excellent opportunities to shoot birds in flight. Dozens of ducks and shore birds (Green winged Teals, Mallards, Northern Shovelers, American Avocets, Black- necked Stilts and others) are always either looking for food or resting and if you use your vehicle as a blind spot, then you can get close enough without disturbing them. Once that you find a strategic place, you just wait for them until you get the behavioral shoot that you want. Some of these guys are very nervous and they will flight if you come too close and sometimes those are the ones that give you the best pic’s. When they flight away from the shore, they usually comeback to the same resting area after 10-15 minutes. Marcus Armani introduced me to this birding spot last year and since them I have been shooting here frequently. Also the 400mm F/4 is probably the best lens to shoot birds in flight. It is super fast and it produces very sharp images, besides it’s the only telephoto that you can manipulate comfortable without a tripod. Another good option for shooting birds in flight is the 100-400 mm F/4.5-5.6. Although the 100-400 mm is a highly versatile lens, the quality of the 400mm F/4 is superior. I used the 100-400 for a while until Marcus showed me the difference between both. At that point I decided to invest in the 400mm F/4 I hope some day you can visit the Bay Area- I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed. Take care buddy. Yamil

I just don't know how you can get these fantastic in flight shots, beautiful. Great work on the focus, shutter speed and exposure. I can appreciate how hard these shots can be. I guess you like the 400. Best regards Yamil.

Hi Sandra, Thanks for your comment. The answer is yes, this is a natural background. I try to keep the shots as natural as possible and I usually don't deliberately manipulate the background. The result of my camera settings and telephoto lens are a blur background that reduces non- critical details and enhances the "target". Your visit to my portfolio is appreciated. Best wishes. Yamil
