Nice work, Cathy. Agree with all of the above, though, for me, I think it would be perfect if one black out the figures completely. As the figure on the right almost is. Reminds me of the late Tony Hudson's Africa prints. I think it's the tones and colours used etc. Great work all the same.

Thankyou for taking the time to comment on my work. You asked how did I think of this-right place, right time I guess. We live many hours inland, so photography at the beach is a novelty. These two were just dancing on the beach at sunset and I snapped what I saw.
Through the help of other usefilm members I was able to adjust the original to produce a much crisper, more balanced image, and am thrilled with the result.
For me the best part of being a usefilm member is the way that everybody helps each other. It is a very supportive community. CC

Oh, if the guy would only hold his right leg straight, this would be a perfect hexagon! (Sorry for that, mathematicians have to say that ;-))
But seriously the result is much better than the original picture in the sense of sharpness and contrast. Even the darker top regions still retain enough detail and do not let the black silhouettes disappear into the dark background.
The same result could be achieved with sharper focus on the two and perhaps a bit of underexposure, and though the result is indeed fantastic, the question arises: Will photography be reduced to taking some photo "as it happens to be taken" and then convert it to something good with PS? If so, then what is the use of such sophosticated cameras? (Real question, no rhetorics.)
But back to the photo again, indeed it deserves the PoD award - I would also put it into the best of the category "People" or similar.
A 7+ for the photo in combination with your work in PS, but only a 5 for the original. But perhaps I am too influenced by the quality of this one, and so my rating for the original has to be only understood as "in comparison" to this one here.

Thankyou Joggie, they were having great fun. My daughter is a photographer as well and we were taking advantage of the beautiful sunset on the first day of our holiday at the beach. When I turned around she had ditched the camera and was playing with her partner so I snapped a few hurried shots before they became self-conscious. It was a glorious day. CC

Cathy this is just awesome.
The colours with that light band in the middle, and figures and reflections spread across the frame give great balance.
It is funny, I see the female as reaching and straining to pull away, and the male just relaxed , knowing she cannot get away from him......his hand drooping down makes it appear this way to me. Just a little personal interpretation.

Thankyou Annemette, You were right, I feel it is a stronger composition. This is not the same photograph, I had discarded this one earlier because the heads blended a little too much into the darkness of the background, so after a little work in photoshop, I was able to present this one with no distracting sky and a complete reflection.
