Eb - This was cropped to about 50% of the original. The 200mm is a great lens, but sometimes limits me on details when shooting from the stands. Low light gathering is a must when shooting football since most of the places I visit have mediocre to poor lights. I just traded two lenses to KEH for a new 135mm f/2. It is shaping up to be one of the most impressive lenses I have ever had. I hope to use it for sports and stage (some portraits).

I like the anticipation inherent in this image. The warm rim light on the open hands also adds to the drama. Pat, are you cropping a great deal when you use your 200 mm? I can't afford that huge glass in the super teles but can see the appeal of the image quality! I just bought a 300 f/4 and use it for close up photography - wish it was the 300mm f/2.8 VR! The image quality in the 300 f/4 is only slightly better than my 80-400 VR at 300mm. but also has the advantage of closer focus.
