Thanks Clifton, glad you got to see this one. There is a lot of history around my area and unfortunately the excavators and heavy equipment of the developers are taking their toll on place like this every day. Trying to record some of it before it is gone.

Thanks for the great comment Sue! This was taken late in the day on my way home from the big city of Bozeman. This was hand held, but I did brace against a fence post. I was trying to catch the motion blur of the windmill blades and get as much detail as I could. Had camera on the B/W setting to see if I could see difference between PS greyscale conversion. Cool to read your comment and have you notice my actual thoughts put into the shot..
Be well and keep on shooting, Stan

This is a wonderful capture, Stan. I love how you aligned the slopes of the two hills to align with the slopes of the barn's roof. The windmill forms a marvelous exclamation point as well. I adore the "brand label" on the windmill's tail. There's a little bit of a hotspot on the west side of the barn but these things happen.
I don't know much about b&w tones and can't comment on the exposure. It is a remarkable "catch" for that shutter speed, especially considering the f-stop. This was handheld? I really like the slight blur of the windmill blades as they were obviously rotating.
Cheers!

There was an advertisement shot here for Corvettes in the late 80's when the big barn was here. Now it eroding away. If you ever come to Montana I know some good locations.

I have heard a few of the stories but I was asked not to repeat due to family pride. Marty had to adjust to rural life quickly, we live in a time warp here.

What a fantastic B&W landscape. The tones are splendid. I love the textures in that weathered wood; I'd LOVE to shoot some fashion stuff there, Stan. ;)

or "if it aint Dutch it aint much!" hahaha. OK abt the crop, i understand. Those dutch left all the mess ;-)

My dad had a 'similar' windmill for pumping water with a spiral groove.

Yes Wolf around here if you are not Dutch you are not much! Big area for the Dutch called Churchill and Amsterdam. They grow a lot of seed potatoes that go to Idaho and Washington. This picture is a big wheat ranch, hay and Black Angus cattle. I tight cropped in camera to eliminate some junk pile on right of photo.

What a shame Stan. If only these old bildings could talk. The stories they could tell. For example. Beating poor Marty up every night in one of them lol. Thanks for showing. Great photo. Cheers Keith:) :)

De Haan family sounds like it is from my country Stan, a farmer in the place I was born was named de Haan. Good shot, a bit tight crop.

Stan,

Now your cooking with fire "Big Boy"!

Just a bit of camera shake, but that is easy to do @ 1/30th... Remember it's just like a fire arm, so squeeze the trigger, don't pull it... ;)

All settings are "Perfect"! Nuff said... 10 +++++
