About old shutters down
young sheep all shorn,
shearers long gone
home to tea.
gear wheels still
long months between.

then muster mobs
noise,bleating,scuffle.
dogs,whistle,nervous
ewes run up the shute
breathing heavy,
stamping feet.

blue singlets, bend,
engage the gear and
shear the sheep
another year, confess,
fleece flies up,
skirt, roll and press.
