The colour punch from the thumbnail drew me in... great patterns and punch! I think by using a polarising filter you could have reduced some of the light glare on the top left though, and really added more strength. ALthough you were working with extension tubes, I think that a little more DOF to pull that top left into complete sharpness would have been nice too.

Saintz the original shot is sharp all the way through. The selective blur was added in postproduction. The intent was to use the blur to keep the viewers eye focused in the area of main interest.
