About Beautiful, graceful... and deadly. Such it is to be the Jellyfish. The specimens tenticles are extremely long. In the bottom left corner you'll see how they spiral around and are just present in the image.

If you're so inclined I have other work available to view on my web site. http://www.artbeacon.com/jmg-galleries/ . Thanks for your time and comments.

jim, now i see why yours are brighter. you used ISO 800 where i only used 400. i tried 800 but those looked a bit too grainy in my monitor at full size. i guess it worked just fine. resizing really took care of that. again, great job!

i cant wait to see the new ones,
tom

All of my aquarium shots were handheld. I almost bought a monopod, but didn't.

This was underexposed by 1/3.
ISO 800, f 2.3, 1/128sec exposure at 100mm

I'm glad you liked these. My favorite image has yet to be posted. Stay tuned.

jim, very nice! you really nailed the color. i take it you didn't underexpose? i underexposed mine a bit (1/3 stop) to give it a bit more depth but i love the way this one came out. i shot a few of the bell as well (see attached) but it's a bit darker (this one is unprocessed).

and you're right! those damn crowds make it very difficult to get your shot. i hovered around for quite a while and even came back later hoping the crowds had thinned out. no luck....

you did a great job here. did you use a monopod? i spazzed and had to freehand my shots.

take care,
tom

Actually this is right side up. The jellyfish was spiraling around for some reason.

Beautiful capture. What is the light source? It almost looks like it's self-illuminated.

That is exactly right. His images inspired me to visit the aquarium again. I couldn't remember his name. Thanks for reminding me who it was.

Thanks for the kind remarks.

i think you and Tom Rumland may have twin jellyfish. he posted a similar shot awhile back....
anyways, these colors are really quite beautiful, and your exposure seems to be perfect. nicely done.
