Wow. This shot was one of my first landscapes. I'm glad that you like this shot. It was the best I could do and I didn't really know what I was doing and assumed it was crap. Now that I look at it again, I rather like it... :)

B+W is the same as color, it just simplifies the images down to basic composition. Every photo really has to have strong composition and structure to begin with (2D or graphic design classes help) - but with color you can get away with vibrancy a little more than with B+W, where everything will be a balance of darks and lights.

This I think is a really solid shot.

Agreed. I would have stepped over to the right to get a better shot but would have fallen about 60ft so I was fairly content with this shot. I may dodge some of it out and make it less distracting. Thanks for the advice. :)

Very nice image. I like how the contrast and tones have come out. Only distracting element is the shadow in the foreground.
