About Today we visit the fair, `the taste of Italy` on a beautiful spot, the estate of `castle the Haar` at Haarzuilens in the Utrecht provence. They couldnīt have chose a better spot, so a beautiful Castle and fantastic landscape on this estate.
The castle could have been taken from a fairy tale and put here on this particular spot.
I hope you all like it.

Castle information:
e Haar already had its current, large pentagonal ground plan in the fifteenth century. It probably got this shape after the castle was destroyed in 1482 as a result of the quarrels between the Bishop and the city of Utrecht.

After this, the castle was rebuilt, but in the course of the eighteenth and nineteenth century it fell into disrepair. The ruinous condition came to an end as from 1890, when the young owner baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nijevelt decided to have the ancestral castle restored in grand style. In 1892 the first activities at the castle started. In a few years time an impressive castle would arise by incorporating the existing, still high-rising, fifteenth century walls. Nowadays the result can be viewed by anyone who wishes to visit.

Thanks John, this castle is really a beauty, I think Walt Disney looked at this one before he created the Disney castle.
I should add you to my friendslist, so I don't have to miss new postings.
Thanks for such kind comment,

Klaas

A classic pictue Klaas. The shadows and lighting and those buildings. So atmospheric- especially the angle and just under that tree.

An Honor????? I'm not the queen of England, not a prince of Monaco, even not a professional photographer Jacques.... so just a (normal) guy, I hope. Youre very welcome. That is one of the reasons why I became a donor, you can add unlimited friends to your list, and then you can't forget to check their pictures every day. You can't forget anybody.

It really sounds like a fairy tale, but in present days...I had a mental image of Holland as a flat, green land with flower fields and many rainy days..but as I could see from your photos there is more sunshine there then here..I'm glad you had nice day today and thanks for sharing this atmosphere, dear friend.

I'm very glad you like it Meldijana, you should have been here, to pick up the speculaas recipe, then you could have come with us and enjoy your stay there. In that area there are a few windmills too. You should have brought extra memory with you, because of the hundreds of photo's you should have been taken when you were. It was indeed a very nice sunday, we were there early this morning so it wasn't so busy at that moment, later when we left it was very, very busy.
I don't like that a lot, so glad we left early.
Regards,

Klaas
