Wow - razor sharp detials. I think I can even count his indiviudaul feathers. These owls are always so facinating - you have captured it well. I too think the crop is fine and Joggies suggestion about using fill in flash will really help bring the life into his eyes by adding catch light and letting us see those beautiful golden eyes.
Thanks for your comments on my photo and welcome to usefilm. You will learn a lot from the photographers here - I know I sure have!

Oh yes I forgot - some fill in flash would also make a huge difference and bring the face to life. Regards.

Great detail and good use of backlighting Martina. I think the crop is fine - I would just clone out the dark patch, top left. Well done!

I like this - it's an excellent shot, however I think it would be a stronger shot if you crop it to around the eyes
