About We had a very heavy mist last week and my lawn was covered with fine, perfect drops of water - Three single drops on a small clover leaf (1.5cm). Used the 105 micro Nikkor plus the 2.7X Panagor Macro converter at a magnification ratio of about 2:1. Lighting was with the built-in flash, Handheld, all settings on manual. No cropping, minimal adjustment of sharpness and contrast in PS.

Fantastic image with these perfectly proportioned drops, Joggie! Compositional interest is generated by the gradation of scale in the drops. I am amazed that your on camera flash is not occluded by the long lens combination. You most likely do not use a hood.

The lighting of this image is very impressive, and so the DOF and composition, the color is very well saturated also, I did enjoy viewing this image a lot my friend and I do wish you all of the best ever.

Thanks Amir - your comment is highly valued. I can assure you I have tried that too. Firstly, as I said it was a heavy mist with very low light. Secondly this was shot about 3cm from ground level, my tripod cannot get there and if you know the lens setup youl understand the difficulty to get the focus planes correct. Thirdly, only the little flash gives you the coloured lining on the drop at a specific angle (something I have used extensively with these water drop shots - see my portfolio). Fourthly, my setup allows me to use the macro freehand at a speed of 1/250sec and with a fstop of 8 to 16, giving the depth of field needed to isolated the drops sharply from the blurred background. After litteraly thousands of shots - some with sunlight (not enough speed and DoF), others with the ringflash (disaster), other with stronger flashlights (reflections to big, blown out sections) - I found the setup with the built-in flash by far the more versatile and giving the best results. Forgive the elaborate explanation but I thought it might be worthwhile to others on usefilm who want to try this. Kind regards.

great work, my friend.
you did a perfect shot.the DOF, the composition and ... and the explaination; but I think it would be better,If you used the real light like sun instead of flash light. This is my idea, if I were you.
very wonderful.
good luck,
Amir
