About The first in my series of my sister-n-law's sculptures.

This is my return to b/w film, and a 35mm SLR that was just collecting dust.

I have also made the determination (while stilll on vacation at home) to develop and print every frame I shoot by myself. I'll give digital a break for a while to dig deeper into the roots of photography.

While at my brothers house a few days ago, I started taking pictures to fill up some rolls of b/w, and get use to a guts and glory SLR that sounds like a Howitszer when fired.

This is one of my sister-n-law's organic scultpures that is throughout their home. To photograph a piece as a whole work of art, for me, would take away from her presentation. So I decided to go in to her work, and capture the angles that I find most striking with depth and shape.

I am so happy to have the smell of b/w developer in the house.

Thanks pops!

yeah...i hear ya, and know exactly what you mean. as soon as I posted this, and saw it on the site, i knew it was not coming across as it did when I printed it. It needs a WIDE white matte. As Lisa noted as well when she saw it on the site. I was going to post it w/ a matte, and then got greedy for size. stoooopid stoooopid stoopid!!!! :)

I'll send another version up later today.

So... my brother gave me a camera that is from our late grandfather.. he hadn't used it, and thought I should give it a chance... it's a 3D stereo camera!! how fitting! So today, going to shoot more with that. developed a roll last night, and it's amazing, but you need a Wheatstone type viewer to see it. pretty awsome.

lots a love.

Joel-- back to the roots with developer, stop bath and fixer. The way I started 45 years ago. Now that you have the new scanner and you are back to film, start looking around for a 4x5; try hanging one of those puppies around your neck.
I like the B&W you posted here but the scupltural elements are somewhat lost in the size and scale of the overall photo.
