Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and great Holiday. Glad you have profited from USEFILM. Yo might want to go to Yahoo and look under Masters of Photography. Study their work for inspiration.

Doyle, thanks very much for your detailed advice. I haven't done much work with moving water, so I appreciate your taking the time to give me such detailed advice. I think I have a fairly good sense of composition, but really do need help with technique to improve.
Thanks again, and happy holidays.

Oh Maryanne . . . I love that camera you're using! :)
I like this composition very much but would (IMO) try a slower shutterspeed. Say 1 sec on shutter priority . . . perhaps a tad faster. The foreground focal point is optimal and a really good choice. You WILL need a tripod for slower shots and it might have even helped this shot . . . but just as important you will need a cable release . . . a remote IR release OR . . . you can use the timer built into the camera. Set up the shot and, with the delayed shutter, there would be absolutely no motion during the shot which would, if focused properly, give you crystal clear focal clarity - this is very nice work and a truly outstanding composition my friend!
Best Regards for the Holiday Season, Doyle I <~~~~~

;) This is a nice photo. Photo could have been much better if you had used Tripod and greater depth of field. But overall image is nice Chuck Freeman

Maryanne, I like how you have chosen to focus on the nearer water movement and let the larger one become secondary. It adds a good balance to the photograph. The top twigs are slightly distracting, but not overall detrimental to the photograph. I would suggest trying for a even slower shutter speed.
The space between the two rocks, where the water flows, creates a natural leading line into the photo, and used very effectively here. Nice work Maryanne regards John
