About Taken during a snow storm a couple of days ago. I hope this image shows the chilling cold of a snow storm by the wind whipping the snow off the curved peak of the roofs. I like the combination and the contrast of straight diagonals, curved lines and random pattern of the trees and bushes. I feel the softness of the image and colour of the building add to the theme. I welcome your comments and constructive feedback.

Great capture, Joe, very captivating! It makes me feel the cold wind, it's a very good moody image with cool colors, and the concentration on the roof alone isolates the feeling of a blustery winter day. No words are needed, it's all there - great image :) Ina

Thanks Gary for all your comments and feedback. Much appreciated. You also have the advantage of some pretty awesome scenery in your part of the country. Thanks for viewing.

Great shot, Joe! It does indeed capture a cold and blustery day. Glad it was you shooting it and not me! hahaha... You did well to get that wisp of snow coming off the roof like that. And yes, the green does add to the scene, especially with the blurred snowed in front of it. (this is why I like living out here... for the most part, the snow falls straight down!!) Cheers, Gary

Hi Joe,
well I like the softness of the colours and the panoramic format. Very simple yet beautifull this one my friend.

Oh yes, you've captured the reality of winter quite well Joe...horizontal snow is never a good thing! I too like the lines, and the muted cool color certainly enhances the "temperature".

Thanks for commenting on my Lensbaby "winter", I appreciate it.

Take care...Robin

Thanks for the comments Maryanne. I appreciate the feedback.
The roofs do sag. The angle of the image and the use of a telephoto lens accentuates the sag a bit. The buildings are near 60 yrs old and have been reinforce a little over the yrs. You never know what might happen but since we don't get a much snow as in the past I don't expect a problem. Thanks for pointing this out.
All the best.

Thanks Leo. I suspect a scene like this is somewhat foreign to Brazil. :) I'm really pleased that you like the image. I wasn't sure how it would be received.

Very nice work. You get a real sense of the cold and the wind blowing. BTW, there appears to be a sag in the roof -- if the snow gets too heavy, the owner may be in trouble (sorry).

Thanks Mike, I really appreciate the feedback. Other people's opinions are important. Often you are too close to your work. It's good to know that other people see things similarly.

I think you have acheived the wind effect.
First thing I noticed upon viewing is that there has to be a hell of a lot of wind to move the snow off like that.

Very interesting lines and curves that really add to the composition.
