awesome shot. i'm so glad you didn't use PS to add things...i'm with steve on that, i try to get exactly what i want on the film, rather than adding elements or editing in PS (please, no one take offense to me saying that, heh). great shot!

Kim, I didn't use a polarizing filter on this picture but some of the other pictures that I took of the orange I used a polarizer. The thing is using a polarizer or underexposing by a 1/2 stop look about the same on Velvia film because it's so saturated to begin with.

Mike,

It's nice to see someone make a photo before it is shot, instead of relying on PS. I try to use PS as a digital darkroom and not add or remove elements that were not there when the photo was taken.

Thanks for this "refreshing" photo, done the right way.

This picture is amazing, and your drawing of the set up is impressive as well. Did you use a polarizing filter to get the sky such a deep blue? Thanks for letting us all know how it was done, and your trick of olive oil!
Again, it's beautiful!

To all those that ask. I did not saturate the color in PS. The only thing done in PS was remove a slight glare on the window. I did not add the background in PS. If you look at it the sky is slightly out of focus due to the fact that it was shot at 80mm. Oh yeah and the secret (I used olive oil on the Orange to make it nice and shiny)

The picture is attached to show how the shot was set up.

Cool stuff, very graphic, gotta love the color contrasts, and I do like oranges, hmmmmm. Shadowed area on the orange does raise my brow, but eh~ dig it.

Mike, I find the colors striking and beautiful. I also like the modeling of light on the orange. Is this a straight shot, or did you put the orange on top of a sky shot in PS? Nicely done.
