Well, that's way better than my garden.
I have to agree with Wayne about the composition. With all that foreground and the falls set into the background it's hard to figure out what this is a picture OF. When you look at the picture, where does it draw your eye? For me my eye is brought to the pond area in front of the left fall--and there really isn't anything in the way of a subject there.
You might try a radical crop to see if you can transform it. I thought about going panaramic in focus on the falls by cutting off pretty much the lower half of the picture.
Anyway, in terms of composition I have learned two useful things. First is that "where is my eye drawn?" bit I mentioned above. The other is to turn the picture upside down to see if it still looks balanced (if not there is probably something wrong in the balance upright too).
Ciao.

Cris d...this is a beatiful picture..in my opinion i would have zoom a little bit more on the waterfalls..but the long exposure gave great colors and that beautiful silky water..good job

I like the overall details of this shot. I do find the fg a bit busy. Having said that I'm not sure where you could take the shot to get both the falls and the fg in.

Thanks again Wayne. No offense has been taken,I prefer an honest crit no matter how harsh - thats what this site should be about. Your thoughts are interesting, and certainly something to consider next time round.... Not that I 'm about to charge out shooting waterfalls....

First of all, Chris, I most certainly think you have produced a very fine image and I look forward to seeing more of your waterfalls in the future. Yup, Compositionally is a word but yup is not. :)
To be honest, I typically would not have said anything so infinitessimaly negative but since it was in the cc section I felt obligated to give my opinion. Please take it for what it is though, just an opinion. I am, by no means, a professional or even an amateur. Although, I do like some foreground in a waterfall image I think there might be a little too much going on here. If you had zoomed in a bit more and gave us a little bit more view of what was above as well as below it would make the diference between a 6.5/7 and a 7/7. Please realize that I am not trying to "nit pick" your image. It was simply an opinion and an observation. As I stated before, I think you have created a wonderful photo and it is a pleasure to view. I just hope that I can contribute something that can make us all better. By the way I rated a 6/7. Secondly, I think your exposure time and aperature were dead on and far better than anything I have ever produced. Hope no offense was taken and I wish you all the best. Great job and keep up the good work!
P.S. You may feel free to critique any of my images as well. I am truely a beginner and could always use an honest opinion. _Wayne_

Very, Very Nice waterfall! "note to self: 2 seconds makes a wonderful waterfall image" I have taken waterfall images at many different exposures 1sec to even 5sec but this one came out just wonderful! I think I would have played around with the composition a little more but still a very nice job!
