Very nice landscape shot michele...
I like ps7 curves to adjust for flatness
in an image......There is something called
the S curve that really works great to pop
a flat landscape shot and is easy to work.
However your fix worked quite well too!
Nice job!

Congrats

Much love

Your friend

Paul.

My dear Michele, I am not so young, I am 38 years old :) ... I do not think that we do not have to learn and accept suggestions about photography, but we do not have to make such a big deel of it ... when we like something as it is that is nothing wrong, we have to be selfconfidence and to stand behind our creations cause yours are coming from your heart. You are very sensual person and your heart is on the first place ... you know what do I mean :)
Happy to have meet you !!! :)
Hugs my dear, keep on going !!!

Ok Robbie... this makes sense to me. Thank you for explaining --- You might think it's obvious to everyone, using software.... but not always to me... You my friend may be wild + crazy... Me, still questioning everything !!!
Thank You...

Hi Doyle !! Thank You for comming by .

I really do like the improvements that you have made on this image.
I liked the water to remain sort of muddy as it just stopped raining and you managed to keep that ... I am understanding why I need Elements better now..

I appreciate your suggestion of using the shutter delay, unless I am using a tripod for sharper focus... everything else I've been doing.... and I don't use automatic , even if maybe I should once in a while ...
Anyway Thank You as always for your help, and time , and patience.
-All the Best to You Doyle, as I maybe leaving as soon as tomorrow afternoon since the for-cast is for possible snow on Sat.
Mahalo My Friend,
Michele~

Michele . . .

Nicely composed and a great scene all around. I would adjust the lighting (surprise!) as some have already mentioned . . . but not general contrast since that blows out the whiter area and darkens the darker area. Midtone contrast would be a better option (if you can do that). I adjusted midtones, darkened highlights and lightened shadows. I also took out the bright blue spot where the log goes into the water.

Generally . . . a slight increase . . . even a moderate increase in saturation is good for landscapes. Too much, though, and you lose detail. You have an amazing scene here. Your camera should have had this in a much sharper focus all around. Landscape setting . . . not automatic makes a significant difference. Without a tripod you have two other options as well. First - brace yourself using a tree or on a rock or log or something to help steady the shot. Second . . . you COULD set it on a rock or something . . . compose it there . . . and use the delay on the shutter release so nothing touches the camera when the shot is taken. OR . . . you could get a tripod!! LoL!

You're doing some good stuff . . . Look out Hawaii!!!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Much better Michele, don`t forget that`s what software is for to improve your image.Leaving your images as natural as possible might not be a good idea if it isn`t good and can be improved.
Take care
Robbie

Hi my dear Srna. How did You get to be soo wise and You are soo young too? I do appreciate all advise, and then I like to do what my heart says... but I sometimes like to please others too much I think ...
Thank You for sharing your constant wisdom as mine seems to ebb + flow at times... !!!
Huggsssssssss Always,

Dear Michele
I´m glad we can exchange both advice, fun and thoughts.:-)
Your image is way better after you added contrast, very beautiful!
I know what you mean. Often the most beautiful images are not real. Long shuttereffect, different lighting, exposure etc. makes photos amazing, but nothing like the real world. I think that the best thing to do is take the photos that we like ourselves while we keep on learning. I think that enthusiasm, happiness and being playful is a great way to go:-)
Take care
Annemette

You would always stay in between my dear Michele if you are listen too much what others prefers or advice you ... listen your heart ... that is not an advice ... that is what is inside of you :)
Beautiful realistic image ... as it is in the Nature after the rain ...you saw it and felt it like this ... this moment !!!

Dear Annemette,

I love to hear Your suggestions Always !!!
Robbie also suggested more contrast, and brightness... I am grateful for Your critique and have tried to do this ... I have this dilema at times to show the image just as it is . It was really very muddy water Annemette.. ( but ugly image) or to spruce it up to make it pretty..(?) I guess I left it in between !! LOL!! Anyway please speak your mind always with me as I do learn much from you and hope that I can help you in anyway at all one day ..ha!! This is why we are here , Right ?

Much Appreciation my friend,
michele~

PS I am adding a spruced up image of this for You to view...

Any Better ????

Michele Carlsen Michele Carlsen   {K:146013} 2/22/2007
Hi Robbie,

Thank You so much for your helpful comments and reminders and pleasant tone even if you are having to repeat yourself.... I was trying to leave the image as natural as i could with-out over-doing ( which I sometimes do) and perhaps just left it flat as you said. I get confused as to show 'what I see' as is... or to make it a 'prettier picture' (?) sometimes I just don't know . Anyway on this one I figure to enhance it a bit anyway, and of course to use a tripod....
I don't know why Martin thinks he is my Teacher ... so it was hard to get too upset on his remarks.. I do need a new tripod and this is for sure.
I am enclosing this image with more contrast, and brightness adjustment to see if this is now a better picture in your eyes.
Thank You for Your time Robbie . I appreciate it very much !!!
Best wishes,
Michele~

Such a beautiful scenery. I would like to see that log and the red tree/bush closer and maybe add some contrast? I hope you don´t mind me suggesting this, Michele. We´re both on the learningpath, and I think we learn a lot from giving each other advice.
Take care

Beautiful scenery Michele,in that condition I hope you will start to use a tripod so you can shoot at a lower ISO for better image quality.
Your images looks very flat, needs contrasr/brightness adjustment.Hope Teacher Martin
will be more lenient on you!!!!LOL!!
Please shoot on a tripod whenever possible on your trip and at the lowest ISO.
Enjoy the trip.
Take care
Robbie
