Poppy fields, Palmdale, California. Shot with Nikon D100 at 1/40 F22 using a 20-35mm F2.8 lens. Camera was on a tripod. This is the first time I visited this area. It was quite cloudy as you can see and intermittent showers saturated the fields.
Poppies blanket the fields as far as the eye can see. The little spot looks like a trail head and you can almost follow the curve towards the folks in the background. There were some tumble weeds or dry twigs interspersed throughout the area that made a sharp contrast with the flowers. You may be able to see cloud shadows in the hills with sunlight highlighting a few of them.
I have noticed that when I go to a new place such as this, I become a little excited and forget to check obvious things. On this occasion, I had to crop on both left and right as the lens hood created vignetting on the frame.
