About Night 3 of color painting with light. This is the only remnant left of the Los Alamitos Motel on Rte 66. It towers over a long-vacant, weed infested lot.

Using a handheld flashlight, I painted this in blue, red, orange and yellow with gels covering the lamp.

58 second exposure, ISO 100, f10.

Great shot!
Love the technique you used, although i would have no idea hwere to begin with something like this.
Also, great angle, adds to the angular appearance of the sign, and like the nightsky behind :)

Dave THE BIG WOW! LOVE IT! Don't you just love Route 66! I gotta travel through New Mexico to see these spots. It's the only western state I haven't fully explored on this highway. Love what you did with the lighting here also. Glad you took the time to add the little "extra" with the lighting effects. SUPER JOB AS ALWAYS!

¡Gracias Alicia! ¿Alamitos = álamo? ¡No, no me recliné aquí, demasiados insectos!

LOL, thanks, Paul. I've never seen you get excited before... :)

I like this, obviously, but did you see the painted stage coach? Now that rocks, IMHO.

Best to you,
Dave

Hi Dave,
This is beautiful!! It has that "Jetsons" feel to it. I love it! You are very, very good at this light painting. I know it's reallly not as easy as you make it look! It's a pleasure watching your photographic skills and creativity develop. I really appreciate you detailing and sharing the process with us - hard to believe you got all that done in a mere 58 secs! Astonishing! 7+++
A very satisified viewer,
Brigitte

What really makes this scene for me is the weathered nature of the sign helped along, no doubt, by your light painting. The stars are a nice touch.

Great image again. Interesting long exposure; you can see the stars and a litle tilt of their movement along the sky.
