About I'm almost embarassed to show these after seeing some of the quality images already uploaded, but considering the kind of camera I used, I guess you could say I'm a bit pleased. Plus it gave me experience to try out different shutter speeds. The tricky part was trying to keep the camera steady since I do not have a shutter release cable and only a cheap-o tripod. But I did have fun.... anyways, here's a few of my shots compiled in a collage... various exposures/shutter speeds and various stages of the eclipse! It was indeed a sight to see! Thanks for viewing my photo... :)

This is nice, really nice photograph. This shows how creative a person can be (who has adorable companions - I dislike the word 'pets') with dig cam.
Best Regards

I wanted so badly to photograph this event, but mother nature had other plans. If this was your first attempt at an eclipse you did fine. I always find it hard to decide when to slow the shutter down when it's in the middle of the eclipse. You have to expose for the bright moon or the dark, and when you really want to capture both. great way to present this. Thank you for your kind comments on the other things happening in my life. I agree, I hope if nothing else they can take a valuable lesson away from all this. Children ( 20 -21 ) grieve differently than adults. I'm so afraid that one of them may feel so depressed they'll do something stupid. Anyway thanks again. you always have such nice comments.

Amazing shot, and great original 'like star' placement for the moons in different faces, great warm color at the middle faces dear Brigitte, very nice.
Best regards!

Thank you, Dean... I appreciate your kind comment, very much!! :) I am too critical of myself to be proud of this, but I am pleased that I learned from this shoot and I did enjoy the show very much. I am glad you like it... guess it could have turned out much worse!

Aww thank you, Dave... I really appreciate your encouragement. And yes, we are crazy in California and we like it that way! ;-) Actually I think you've been hitting the bottle with the indians because there's only one moon... you see many huh?? ;-)

Ok seriously.... thank you... I wanted to do what you did and get a series but I wasn't sure what exposure would be best considering the various lighting situations of the moon. So knowing I wouldn't get any great shots with my camera, I used it as a learning experience. The "de-saturated" shots you see at the top were actually what you see as the blown-out white sections of the moon below...the reason there is great detail in those is because of the faster shutter speed... between 1/100th and 1/250th. The lower photos I emphasized mostly on getting detail in the orange-eclipsed parts of the moon and used a slower shutter speed of between 2-4 secs.

You just wait til I get a decent camera and not one made by "crayola"!! hahahaha ;o>

Okay, now I understand why everybody says Californian's are nuts... you guys have 7 moons.

I wouldn't be embarrassed about your shots... they're nothing to sneeze at.... and that was my second choice, arranging them in a circle. I like the top ones, too. They look desaturated.

Best wishes,
Dave
