I was watching the for the first time last Saturday at Marine World or Discovery Kingdom whatever you want to call it doing there dance. I guess its a mating dance for the group of them where doing it. Like on television there in Africa where huge flocks of birds are doing it. Nice shot and capture.

Hi Debjit... what an honor to have you visit my photos. I am glad you viewed the whole series and offered your opinion. I wasn't sure as each seemed a little different, but I am kind of partial to this one also because of the rich color against the dark background. I never considered the shapes and patterns, but you do have a good point. I looked at it from that perspective and have to agree... it is interesting in that sense. Thanks so much for your comment... I really appreciate it.

Lol, Dave... yes, I think you could say it was a rubber ducky pond/farm... it is supposed to resemble Lake Victoria in Africa. These birds are definately the showcase of this zoo. The little lake is accessable from all sides so it is easy to photograph it almost any time of day to achieve the best lighting. Thanks for your kind comments and for visiting. :)

Thank you so much for your very generous comment, Maryanne. I can totally understand why you are partial to these stunningly beautiful birds. They are going to be high on my list of favorite subjects at this zoo. Their color really was this brilliant... I was amazed. Not sure if they look like that all year or just during mating season... I will have to learn about them a little more.

Thank you, Jen! You are right, I couldn't stop... my interest at the zoo was mostly with these beautiful birds. Their color was truly that brilliant - no saturation boost in post processing at all. I will probably go back again soon and work with these birds again. I know there is a "killer" shot to be unveiled with them eventually.
