About	Captured in morning's first light, this Easter Lily Cactus's blossom lasts for just one night. Originally from Bolivia and Paraguay, this clumping succulent grows up to 1 foot tall and 2 feet in diameter. It's scientific name is Echinopsis subdenudata. Shot hand-held in early morning light, lens at 154.0mm together with a Kenko 20mm ext. tube in macro mode. This was created early this morning. I did take some night shots with flash thinking it would not last past sunrise, but when I went to let the dogs out this morning and found it was still opened, I took a few more shots and these turned out so much nicer in natural light. Sadly, as of a few minutes after this shot was taken, the flower started to close and now it is wilted. A little more info I discovered today as I was researching this cactus, is that the colors of this night blooming cactus range from white to pale pink - they do not need to be very colorful as they are generally pollinated by nocturnal insects or small animals, principally moths and bats.

This is a beauty Brigitte and the 'about' was most interesting and very informative. I love the delicate tones to this bloom and the stamen looks like hand appearing out of the centre as if searching for something or beseeching for something out of shot. The details are good and the dof perfect. A great hand held shot, well done you and thank goodness for IS. A big HUUUUUUG and my very best wishes to you as always........Ray
