Japanese haiku written by me for my dear friend. My friend, a graduate student from China, had a bad miscarriage last year. She was told she could not have children afterward, even though she is young (27) and good condition. BUT, a year later she is now expecting a little girl in late July. I wrote this haiku for her, as the photo shows two mature flowers and one about to bloom; as a gift to her.
Photoshop was used to crop in on the flower only, all of the blur is natural due to foliage being in front of the lens thus very blurred, plus depth of field being so limited by shooting wide-open. I placed the haiku on that blur part, since it was already there. No other PS alterations (except framing).
While the photo is not "perfect" I feel it has very high emotional appeal.
Shot on tripod in Aperture Mode set at f/5.6 at 300mm (thus shot wide open for that focal length). Matrix Metering.
Please critique this and tell me what you feel. -- Rod :)
What a wonderful gift for your friend! The photograph and haiku are beautifully done. Knowing about your friend's situation makes this extra special. Congrats on a job well done and best wishes to your friend.
