Very sci-fi looking landscape.... like you were taking it from your spaceship on Pluto.

Peta, after reading your last comment I checked the setting of my monitor (I can change the setting in 12 different ways, depending what(where?) you want to use it for, like photography, games, CAD/CAM, printing etc.) and I had it set on photography. If I set it on factory default though, the colors match much better...

This proves monitors see different things...the blues on mine look very 'coordinated', no lilac hue at all, and the reflection of moonlight on the mountain picking up the same colour as in the clouds.

Hi Marion:
I LOVE the symmetry IN your photos. It's one of the elements that stands out immediately in your portfolio.
The Alterran Ant wasn't actually what I was intentending to do with this scene. It's just that I grew infatuated with the funky clouds and probably stopped too soon. When I finish up a couple of works in progress, I'll return to Moonrise and see if I can get right.
Thanks, Jim

Jim, somehow I feel the clouds and mountains don't work well together...for two reasons actually. I LOVE symmetry....if the whole image is symmetric. In this case it's just the clouds (not quite because there is more on the left than on the right), which are btw great with that insect face in them. The colors blue: the mountains are a dark turquoise blue while the clouds are more lilac-blue. I love both colors, but the combination doesn't "feel" good to me. :)

Richard,
That's the Alient Ant from Alterra.
Mary,
I NEVER mind thoughtful observations -- which is what yours always are!
I guess the real test is whether or not you would have thought it a gimmick just by looking at the image? If that's the case, then I will have to agree with you! The mirror image is certainly one of the oldest darkroom manipulations around.

I most certainly see something in the clouds Richard, I think it is what you see. ;) That aside Jim, it's really a very beautiful nightscape.

I it just me or can I detect an alien face in the clouds, it even has a big pair of lips, wow! A very nice image and it has worked a treat, it is very creative - Richard.

I saw the insect right way and found it disturbing. I hope you don't mind me saying this but I can't decide if it is gimmicky or a creative idea.
I will say that I like the title - I like the hint and misdirection it creates.
