I hate you :) your images are more like art than anything . I would love to come to your house and just learn everything that floats around in your head . Still working on the overlays can you give me any tips on how to do better at them or at least understanding how they work . I read your comments on how you do things and very often I see you use "white overlay" I really dont understand and would love to learn .... I read a lot and can understand PS pretty well. I am pround just to understand your discriptions . As if I have not said it before you water and skys are nothing short of amazing ! Keep bring us to new places Jim and again thanks for all the help and feeback !

I love this one, but I can't quite explain why. I think it's because I can make up stories from looking at it. I like the lines, the black lines on the mountains, the prominent white line cutting the picture in two. The textures of the sky look like it's another mountain range up there. And the bird shape makes this picture very interesting, especially with the carving on the body.

I think the new mountains harmonize better with the rest of the image, not quite with the clouds but very close given their radically different feel. What I really like about this image is the orientation of the bird. Without the background, it is a simple silhouette of a bird in flight. With the backdrop you have here it is so dramatic, almost like it is stalling out and falling backwards, adding a lot of drama to the image.

Jim on a second more awake look this morning, I like what Ben has done which I guess is something as Robin suggested, a combination of the two.

Hey Jim, I was commenting with a quote on Mary Bell's last floral and the quote I used made be think of your picture again so I'm back to quote it to you as well. Don't you think it would make a great time picture? I can see the image but I can't create it.
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may Old time is still a-flying And this same flower that smiles today Tomorrow will be dying. - Robert Herrick

Hi Jim, it's an interesting creative concept . You know, that I apreciate a lot your creativity... I agree with Stefan. Your second version is already better ... did you try other colours for the background a less saturated blue? The watch could even be in a complete stronger colours and more recognisable, because it's the main concept. I made some fast corrections, how I saw it . This is a personal opionion. What do you think about it ? I hope I don't offend you by thIs. Friendly regards, Ben

given a choice i stay with the first although from your narratives the second rounds things off clearer graphically (for me) - the line in the first might use a faded gradient glow and some perspective to give the feeling of time passing or arriving - some of the vapourous protoplasm added sparingly to the first could give more distance to the mountain and the bird - but hey.. i'm just a monkeyboy. Great whatever Jim..

Great tones and concept again. However, this one's a little flat to me; I think it's mostly the drawing like qualities of the front sillouette and the texture mapped on the mountains. A very creative piece of work, as all your work is!

Jim I think for me the original image wins, though maybe the clock face I prefer on the second. The effect on the second replacing the textured mountains does not have the same impact. Is Craig right about the line of light? It feels that way to me. Very provocative image as always!

Nice rework. I think that you made huge improvements to this creation. The mountains are much more soothing to the eye and flow with the whole piece.

After thinking about the comments so far, especially Stefan's, which pinpointed a couple of my own concerns, I worked up an alternate version. Not sure which one is stronger. Any suggestions?

Your images are intellectually sophisticated and brilliantly executed - honestly, don't know how you have the time to produce such work. Left an answer to your question in my most recent image. Regards.

So if time didn't follow the bird (just suppose for a minute) could we escape the inevitability of time and it's restrictions? I love the terrain the bird is flying over. Beautiful blue textures!

This is cool in its trademark McBlue, but the ray-traced mountains do not excite me. The bright white line, absolutely straight, and through the center of the image cleaves it too strongly IMHO. The mark on the raven (?) looks interesting, but I cannot make out too much of it.

Jim; when I saw this piece, I thought of H.G Wells "Time Machine" for some reason-- I think it's the image on the bird. And the large silhouetted bird made me think of "The Flight of the Phoenix"-- but that's another story. I'm curious about the bright white light zapping horizontally across the center of the picture-- as if the bird is crossing some kind of threshold or barrier. Cool work!

Beautiful work, and interesting deep thinking! I can sense some kind of mix of freedom and captivity. The line in the background really catches my interest and I wonder what (or if) it symbolise something.
