It is a pretty image, don't know why it would be controversial. It is a bit contrasty and blown out in the highlights, but that could be in the scan, or just because it was shot on slide film and you pushed it a bit to hard in the exposure area.

I think I would have tried stopping down a stop or so and using a fill flash maybe would have kept the bright background in the center from taking over.

What did people find controversial about it?
