Chris, this is a very good phot, and some good PS work to bring it upto the result above. I have one or two observations which might help you further enhance this.

The head is cut from the shoulders by the cloud line, this is especially apparent in the thumbnail

The water does not reflect the colouration in the sky, copy the sky, paste inverted in a new layer drop the transparency of that layer to achieve a colouration more akin to what might have been there.

Just a thought.

It is an interesting experience for me to compare the original shot with what you have made of it. The end result is very attractive, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to try anything of the kind. For me, it breaks the link between photography and the object being photographed. But I guess it's a thin line between making the original scene looks its best as it really was and changing it so that it is more attractive than it originally was. I guess I choose to stand on one side of that line and you on the other.
