Wow what a great use of those cans, I was always thinking of what to do with one if I got hold of it. It had food storage applications, not photography. Of course we have all seen the oil tin cameras of Athens or Havana but this one is new. Please take a photograph of the camera and post it on Usefilm, i would love to see what the camera looks like.

This is a beautiful picture. The little markings of the quiet subject matter work well with the print damage. The toning is evocative as well. Reminds my some of Sally Mann's work over the past few years with ancient cameras (and techniques) and broken lenses. When done well - when the technique enhances/matches the subject - the results can be impressive. Of course, when technique is all that is there it can end up quite uninteresting.

Andreas--thank you for looking at my photo--it got me back here to U.F. I remember enjoying your work on photosig and have just spent a VERY enjoyable hour looking at all your photos here. This one is my favorite...so ancient and sparse looking...very atmospheric. I like your pinhole can-i've made a couple pinholes but have yet to get good results...maybe now that i'm learning to do my own printing i can experiment more.
Love your holgas! Holga and Dianas are my favorites-I'd almost forgotten how wonderfully quirky they are--I'll have to pull mine out again. I can learn a lot from studying your photos

thanks for your comments! - to answer the question: Illycan is can for coffee from Illy. Stefan prefers Lavazza, David prefers Segafredo ... you can make a camera out of it in five minutes including painting it black inside ... the picture shows the actually used can

and here it is... This is great Andreas, I find the detail in this.. LOADS of Detail. That is how I do mine as well. I scan the the negative and invert in photoshop. not sure what an Illy can is though.

A good "dirty" feel to this pinhole. I'm wondering where the veils of shadow came from, right now I'm guessing light leaks... Without the signs of civilization this would look like recovered artefacts from some dethawed long-lost polar expedition. Now we need to see how a Lavazza can will change the outcome :-)
