About This picture was taken from my deck looking at the clouds away from the setting sun. We get some really wicked sunsets here but I think some of the most interesting plays of light and cloud are seen when you put your back to the sun. The colours exactly match my photo, so the scan is good. Unfortunate that there was a telephone pole and the camper but what's a girl to do? The power company gets ticked when I chop down their poles. Seriously though, is there too much fence? How distracting are the pole and and camper?

Well, this is nothing that a little photoshop can't perfect, eh? (Canadianisms - GOOD!) I think the colours in the sky remind me of Baroque-era paintings. Actually, I could see this as some kind of demonic hellfire in a Tinteretto work...

David, This is doable! There's a grain elevator at Tempest (neat name eh?), excuse the Canadianism, that is just west of me. Unfortunately, with this pic, you'll just have to take my word for it, it's Southern Alberta alright. Thanks for the kind words.

Dawn, nice capture of that wonderful southern Alberta sky. I think the pole and camper can be cloned out and still look great! (If the railroad tracks had reflected that funky light on that cloud, I think it'd have looked terrific if you'd shown them!)
ps. wish you'd show a similar sky with a grain elevator to prove it's southern AB! : )

Mary Sue, I was facing north east, to be precise. It's reflected light from the sunset that's catching some low-hanging clouds. The deck isn't anything special, just the view. What you don't see is the train track that runs just in front of the poles.

I like the intense sunset colors here, Dawn. But I am confused, were you facing EAST to get this picture? P.S. You must have a lovely deck!

LIke this Dawn...you could probably clone out the pole if you don't like it....the the light looks as if it pushing through the clouds like lava....very cool.
